You can help "Stamp out Prohibition" today!

The above photo (full version here) was taken in 1932, when responsible citizens were finally deciding they had endured enough of the crime, violence, and corruption caused by Alcohol Prohibition. We have reached another such point in American History with the so-called "War on Drugs," but reforming the laws will require serious, coordinated activism.  Citizens must "Send the Right Message" to lawmakers, and lawmakers must find the courage to support sensible policy alternatives.

Students Lobby Senators, Congressmen on Crack-Powder Sentencing Disparity

Last weekend, college students from across the country converged on the nation’s capital for the 10th Annual Students for Sensible Drug Policy (SSDP) National Conference, and among them were 10 students from Franklin Pierce University in Rindge, NH.  On Friday, Nov. 21, over 250 students swarmed Capitol Hill for scheduled meetings with their Congressmen and Senators.  Their issue du jour?  The 100-1 sentencing disparity for crack vs. powder cocaine.

Cindy McCain a Drug Dealer?

Is it fair to call John McCain's wife a drug dealer?  A new website called is leveling exactly that charge against Cindy McCain, who is chairperson and majority shareholder in Hensley & Co., a major Anheuser-Busch distributor.  "As head of the Hensley Cartel, Cindy McCain has made a fortune," the site asserts.

 

An Open Letter to Barack Obama about Marijuana

Dear Senator Obama,

 

I was one of many voters who applauded Senator Chris Dodd last fall for advocating that marijuana be decriminalized. Accordingly, I was one of many voters who was disappointed to see you raise your hand in the Oct. 30 MSNBC debate, indicating that you did not agree with Dodd's common sense position.

The presidential primaries have left New Hampshire, and with all the exciting things we have going on at the state level, we're aren't likely to weigh in much more on the presidential process. Fun while it lasted!

Medical Marijuana Advocate Meets Liz Kucinich, Gets Date for New Year's Eve

Clayton Holton was scheduled to receive a visit from Ohio Congressman Dennis Kucinich Tuesday morning at his residence, the Riverside Rest Home in Dover, NH. At 22, Clayton is the youngest person ever admitted into a retirement home in New Hampshire, and Kucinich wanted to hear his story.
