Well, I've been out of Libertarian politics for about 10 years, but caught the Convention this weekend. It looks like a Neocon-Agency takeover for my money. You never really leave Republican politics if your an insider like Barr, and you NEVER sever your ties to the CIA.
You can tell the fix is in when C-Span, a establishment coporate asset if there ever was one gets behind the effort. The New Jersey deligation was behind Barr, I don't know that portends for the Lib party in NJ.

Should be an interesting Summer for Conspiracy buffs like myself. "May you live in interesting times"

The NJLP did not support Barr until the last round of voting when it came down between Barr and Ruwart. Our vote was split at that round between the two of them (10 for Barr and 3 for Ruwart). Many were fearful of Ruwart's philosophical statements on children's rights and age of consent.
Barr's story and apparent conversion is certainly an interesting one. He performed many evils in the past, but has now distanced himself from much of his past. If you don't know anything about Barr, I'd suggest his wikipedia entry for an unbiased (at the time of this writing) summary of all that has occurred with Barr.
I'm worried, but I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. For now, I'm going to donate a small amount to his campaign and I'll petition to get him on the ballot.
If he presents a libertarian campaign and addresses his past sins in an effective manner I'll consider donating more money.

I think it is a good thing that we finally have a candidate that can credibly put forth our drug policies. Barr is the one guy that can argue that drugs are bad, but the war on drugs is worse, and actually get some traction. I despised Barr as a Congressman for his willingness to sponsor legislation with the intent of itnerfering with people's personal lives. He says he's had a change of heart, and only a fool doesn't learn from his mistakes. I think he's going to to do big things to bring our message to the citizens of the United States.

Bob Barr is a light weight republican at best . He never had a large following in the gop.This tells me the lp is dead.Why bother to vote for gop light. Many delegates did not vote on the last ballot.The lp has become the junior partner of the gop.I donnot think that barr will bring in as many gopers as his campaign manager predicted.He will probably get more votes than bednarik but then again who couldnot.Murray Sabrin is going nowhere fast. Sabrin is on his way to a third place finish.Barr will not be a factor in november.

Barr will not be invited to the debates.He will not bring in scores of gopers nor will he raise the large amounts of money the lp expects.Barr is just a false hope with little promise. He is gop light.
