The NJLP did not support Barr until the last round of voting when it came down between Barr and Ruwart. Our vote was split at that round between the two of them (10 for Barr and 3 for Ruwart). Many were fearful of Ruwart's philosophical statements on children's rights and age of consent.
Barr's story and apparent conversion is certainly an interesting one. He performed many evils in the past, but has now distanced himself from much of his past. If you don't know anything about Barr, I'd suggest his
wikipedia entry for an unbiased (at the time of this writing) summary of all that has occurred with Barr.
I'm worried, but I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. For now, I'm going to donate a small amount to his campaign and I'll petition to get him on the ballot.
If he presents a libertarian campaign and addresses his past sins in an effective manner I'll consider donating more money.
