This thread discusses the Content article: Another Ridiculous Crime

The first thing that came to mind when reading this post is that it's very normal for someone with insulin-dependent diabetes to be traveling with hypodermic syringes, especially if that person is going to be out for some period of time (and/or expecting to be eating outside the home), and especially if s/he uses a mix of different types of insulin via multiple daily injections.

The suggestion that the mere possession of a hypodermic needle is enough to warrant arrest suggests that some (perjorative deleted) believes that it is illegal to have a (possibly inherited) autoimmune disease?!?!?

If you are poor the police can do anything they want. Did you know it is illegal, in New Jersey, to frown at a police officer? Whenever I see a police officer, I look down or pretend I am answering my cell phone. I try to avoid any contact with them. Even if I need police assistance, I do not bother calling them, I just cut my losses and thank God I still have all my faculties.

This is absolutely another case of the State zeaolously overstepping their Constitutional boundries. Innocent until proven guilty is pretty clear to me. Obviously a young kid in a beat up car, driving around a known drug area carrying needles is up to no good. You don't need a criminal justice dgree to figure that out. That still does not give the police the right to arrest someone for possessing a common, non dangerous object when no real crime has been committed. Ridiculous.
