However Patrick Henry never stated that. According to Snopes and this site it is a misquotation. Rather it is a creation of David Barton who has admitted that several quotations he has created have no primary source.

Our country's founders came from a variety of religions. Jefferson, Franklin, and Washington are most often considered Deists.

Jefferson admired and wrote about Jesus Christ, however he rejected the divinity of Jesus Christ and even produced a bible that excised all supernatural events.

We are not solely a Christian nation. Rather we are a nation of many religions. Our tradition respects the diversity of many beliefs.
