This thread discusses the Content article: SMART Group Opposes Student Drug Testing I find random drug testing to be odious. I commend Brendan Benedict and SMART for fighting it in their high school. Reason is on their side. It would be ironic if an institution charged with teaching critical thinking fails to engage in same when making this decision.

The local paper just came out with an editorial in support of the students! Read Rights Not Random Tests.

I just got back from the school board meeting. Despite the opposition the drug testing proposal passed. All board members were in support of it with one abstention. I'm considering options. Perhaps compiling a list of private clubs the kids could get involved in instead of the school ones. Maybe even starting a "Just Say No" scholarship.
