FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Popularity of Libertarian Party Explodes

Tennent, NJ, May 9, 2016 – Libertarian Party Membership Growing Dramatically

In Bergen County, NJ, market share of voter registrations declined for both Democrats and Republicans, while voters registering as Libertarian has increased by 41% in the last 12 months.

Membership in the New Jersey Libertarian Party is skyrocketing as well. Over the past couple of months, the NJLP has seen an explosive membership growth rate of 26%. When asked about the upsurge VP of Membership R. Jay Edgar, responded, “Membership in the NJLP State Party is at an all-time high, for as long as I have records for.”

Both Democrats and Republicans, dissatisfied with the presumptive major party nominees, are breaking ranks. Joe Loonam. a Bergen County, NJ Republican leader whose distinguished credentials include spending 10 years as a Republican County Committee member said, “As a Republican I have often found myself having to back the candidate that wasn't my first or second choice. With Trump being the presumptive nominee, I feel obligated NOT TO fall in line. In November, I will be voting Libertarian". As Peter Rohrman, Bergen County Representative on the NJLP State Board said, "In a non-swing state like New Jersey, which allocates its Electors on a winner-take-all basis, the only wasted vote is a vote for either of the two major party candidates. Come November, think different, vote different. Vote Libertarian.”

The NJ Libertarian Party is NJ's third largest political party, founded in 1972. Our vision is for a world in which all individuals have the right to exercise sole control over their lives, and have the right to live in whatever manner they choose, so long as they do not forcibly interfere with the rights of others to live as they choose. Our goal is to build a political party that elects Libertarians to public office and moves public policy in a libertarian direction.
