There are many individuals that have this belief that politicians are a “smart lot.”  That they know the law and what is just and unjust according to it. Over a period of five months now, I have heard, read and watched interviews and speeches that have proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that when it comes to law, particularly U.S. Constitutional Law, politicians are ignorant. It does not matter if these politicians reside in local or state government, nor does it matter if they are at the federal level. The fact that these people have this belief that there are no limits to their power and that they can do anything to force their will upon people and individuals is not only frightening but also disgusting.

  • There are politicians that believe that they have a right to restrict political speech using campaign finance laws and other legislation and force.
  • There are politicians that believe that they have the right and duty to censor speech and expression that they deem offensive and hurtful.
  • There are politicians that believe that they have a right to restrict the internet, the airwaves as well as other forms of communication.
  • There are politicians that believe that they have the right and the duty to seize private property and give that property to another
  • There are politicians that believe that they have the right to search and violate your being without probable cause
  • Finally, there are politicians that believe that they have the right to abuse their power and that nothing at all could be done against it.

The U.S. Constitution, and other laws, spells out the limits to government power and government reach. However, there are politicians that believe that there should be no limits and that they are the law themselves. I am seeing this in New York where a Congressman is ordering that that city take down a statue because he deems it is offensive. I seen it again in New York where a group of politicians ordered and threatened that a pro-life billboard be taken down, because they deem it was offensive. I have also seen it last year when a member of Congress from California stated to a town hall group that he could do whatever he pleased and that no one could stop him. I have even seen it when a politician stated that health care was constitutional because of the “pursuit of happiness” clause. It is time that people rise up and remind these politicians not only that they work for them, but that they are restricted in terms of what they do. That if they violate these limits that they will be removed from their perch.
