PRESS RELEASE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Former NJ State Treasurer to Chair Johnson-Weld Campaign in New Jersey

New Jersey Libertarian Party Chair Patrick McKnight announced that former New Jersey State Treasurer Andrew Sidamon-Eristoff has agreed to chair the campaign of Libertarian Party presidential and vice presidential nominees Gary Johnson and William Weld in the Garden State.

Mr. Sidamon-Eristoff stated:

“I am honored to serve as Chair of the Johnson-Weld 2016 campaign in New Jersey.

“To be clear: I have always been and remain a loyal Republican.  But partisan loyalty should not be blind or unconditional.

“As an American who believes strongly in maintaining the integrity of, and confidence in, our political processes and public institutions, I cannot in good conscience support my party’s nominee for President.  Nor can I support a Democratic Party nominee who does not share my Republican values or priorities.

“Fortunately, Governors Johnson and Weld offer an experienced, positive, and pragmatic vision of fiscal restraint, limited but responsible government, and personal freedom that faithfully reflects the center-right political values and priorities that I have always held dear, and that I believe must continue to play a prominent role in our national dialogue.”

A former Chairman of the New York Republican County Committee and elected Republican member of the New York City Council, Andrew Sidamon-Eristoff served in the cabinets of a Republican Mayor of New York City and Republican governors in both New York State and New Jersey.

“I couldn’t be more excited to have Mr. Sidamon-Eristoff leading the Johnson Campaign in New Jersey,” New Jersey Libertarian Party Chair Patrick McKnight said. “We’ve built a diverse coalition of libertarians, independents, liberals and conservatives working together to offer voters a better alternative. Our children deserve better than the lesser of two evils. Our children deserve liberty. I thank Mr. Sidamon-Eristoff for putting his principles before his party.”

The NJ Libertarian Party is NJ's third largest political party, founded in 1972. Our vision is for a world in which all individuals have the right to exercise sole control over their lives, and have the right to live in whatever manner they choose, so long as they do not forcibly interfere with the rights of others to live as they choose. Our goal is to build a political party that elects Libertarians to public office and moves public policy in a libertarian direction. In 2016 NJLP membership has exploded by 78%
