2012 NJ Libertarian Party Convention

We are extremely pleased to announce the details for this year's Convention. We are holding the Convention at Tavern on the Lake in Hightstown, NJ.

The Convention will be held on March 24th from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Party's Business Meeting will be held on morning of March 24th and will be open to all. Registration will be required for the afternoon events, which include a luncheon and speakers. Our full convention package includes lunch on Saturday and afternoon speakers with coffee and refreshments available all day.

Registration for the full Convention will be $35 until March 17th 21st. Registration at the convention will be $40.

Speakers only (no lunch) registration is free, but a donation is suggested to help us cover our expenses. Students discounts are available.

Note that the business meeting on Saturday morning is free. You do not need to register for the business meeting.

Seth Grossman - "Repudiating Unconstitutional Debt"

Seth Grossman is a lawyer in Somers Point, New Jersey. He was born and spent most of his life in Atlantic City, where he was once active in politics as a city councilman, county freeholder, and founder of its oldest and largest neighborhood group (Chelsea Neighborhood Association). In 2003, Seth Grossman founded Liberty and Prosperity 1776, Inc., a 501(c)(3) education organization to help him in his mission of teaching Americans how to think and act like Americans again. Seth also hosts a weekly radio show every Saturday morning.

Dr. Arthur T. Poulos - "Educational Reform through a For-profit Model"

Dr. Arthur Poulos is the principal and founder of SciCore Academy. Dr. Poulos, a scientist and entrepreneur, conceived the idea for an academy in response to the current crisis in quality education at the secondary level. In consultation with an advisory board of professionals in diverse fields, including education, psychology, law, real estate, construction, and accounting, Dr. Poulos and the advisors developed an organizational formula to achieve high academic value at affordable price. In this model, resources are directed exclusively to academic subjects, non-essential facilities and functions are eliminated, and overhead is minimized. High educational quality is achieved through a challenging curriculum, stimulating and rigorous textbooks, and a highly qualified faculty who are committed to the intellectual growth of each student.

Dr. Alieta Eck, MD - "Why Government Health Care is Wrong for America"

Dr. Alieta Eck, MD graduated from the Rutgers College of Pharmacy in NJ and the St. Louis School of Medicine in St. Louis, MO. She studied Internal Medicine at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ and has been in private practice with her husband, Dr. John Eck, MD in Piscataway, NJ since 1988. She has been involved in health care reform since residency and is convinced that the government is a poor provider of medical care.

She testified before the Joint Economic Committee of the US Congress in 2004 about better ways to deliver health care in the United States. In 2003, she and her husband founded the Zarephath Health Center, a free clinic for the poor and uninsured that currently cares for 300-400 patients per month utilizing the donated services of volunteer physicians and nurses.

In 2011, she testified before a US Senate subcommittee on ways to keep patients with non-urgent conditions out of the emergency room. She has appeared on Judge Andrew Napolitano's Freedom Watch.

Dr. Eck is a long time member of the Christian Medical Dental Association and in 2011 became the President of the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons. (aapsonline.org) In addition, she serves on the board of Christian Care Medi-Share, a faith based medical cost sharing Ministry.

She is a member of Zarephath Christian Church and she and her husband have five children, one in medical school in NJ.

Neil Schloss - "Campaign Strategy and Tactics"

Neil Schloss has been a CPA since 1995 and formed Castle Consulting LLC in 1998. Neil's Corporate headquarters currently serves as the NJ State Headquarters for the Ron Paul for President campaign. Neil will be sharing with us his thoughts on campaign strategy that he has learned while working for the Ron Paul campaign.

Mr. Schloss has been a member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the NJ Society of Certified Public Accountants for over 15 years. Neil has been an entrepreneur with three additional businesses, Travel By Castle, Castle Payroll Services, and It's Magic. He has worked with many private small businesses, educating them on free market theory, and helping them be fiscally responsible.

Kenneth Del Vecchio

Kenneth Del Vecchio is a critically acclaimed filmmaker who has written, produced and directed over 15 feature films that star 50+ film and TV stars, including multiple Academy Award and Emmy winners and nominees. He has recent distribution deals with industry leaders such as ICAP Media, Universal’s Vivendi Entertainment, Anchor Bay, Take 2 Releasing, and E-1 Entertainment. Mr. Del Vecchio is founder and chairman of one of the world’s largest film festivals, Hoboken International Film Festival. He also is the author of some of the nation’s best-selling legal books, including criminal codebooks published by Prentice Hall and ALM. A best-selling criminal suspense novelist, he has his most recent novel publication through Transit Publishing, with the work sold in all major chains. He also is the publisher of one of New Jersey’s only daily newspapers, Garden State Journal. In addition, he is the owner of The Criminal Law Learning Center, where he has taught thousands of police officers and lawyer. And he is a former Judge, who also has tried over 400 cases as a practicing criminal attorney. Ken is seeking our nomination for U.S. Senate during our morning business meeting.

Kate D'Adamo - "Sex Worker Rights and the Path to Decriminalization"

Kate D'Adamo is a community organizer with the Sex Workers Outreach Project NYC and Sex Workers Action New York. Prior to joining SWOP, she worked on legal and international mechanisms to support the labor rights of economic migrants and low-wage laborers around the globe. In 2011, she was part of the successful campaign utilizing the Universal Periodic Review to demand the federal government to recognize the rights and vulnerabilities of laborers in the sex trade. Currently, Ms. D'Adamo is researching media conceptions of human trafficking in the United States, and its impact on legislation. She is currently pursuing her Masters in International Affairs. Ms. D'Adamo will be discussing the issue of sex worker rights and its connection to the core principles of the Libertarian Party, the challenges and vulnerabilities faced by those who engage in the sex trade, and how decriminalization of the sex trade is integral to addressing human trafficking within the industry.

Sex Workers Outreach Project New York City [SWOP-NYC] and Sex Workers Action New yorK [SWANK] are both grassroots organization and part of a national network dedicated to improving the lives of current and former sex workers/those with experience in the sex trade in the New York metro area, on and off of the job. SWOP-NYC and SWANK engage in political and media advocacy, build community, and support professional development for those in the sex trade.

Tavern on the Lake is located at 101 North Main Street in Hightstown, NJ. The convention is to be held in the upstairs room. The entrance to the upstairs room is outside to the right of the main entrance.
