Examples of individuals using guns to defend themselves abound. A simple Google search has turned up the following:

Meanwhile here in New Jersey Brian Aitken sits in jail merely for having weapons and ammunition locked in the trunk of his car. Law abiding New Jersey residents are left with little options for self defense.

New Jersey's gun laws are among the strictest in the nation. Carry permits are rarely approved, unless one has connections or money. And as Brian's case shows the laws are arbitrarily enforced and poorly written. Assembly bill A1384 changes NJ law from a "may issue" state to a "shall issue" state as long as certain requirements are met. Easing the gun laws in NJ will make us a safer state.

All persons are by nature free and independent, and have certain natural and unalienable rights, among which are those of enjoying and defending life and liberty, of acquiring, possessing, and protecting property, and of pursuing and obtaining safety and happiness. - NJ State Constitution
