Trenton, New Jersey – November 14, 2024 – The New Jersey Libertarian Party today announced its endorsement of U.S. Representative Thomas Massie (R-KY) for the position of Secretary of Agriculture in the incoming presidential administration.

"Though the NJLP would prefer the dissolution of all agencies created by the federal government, we stand in strong support of Representative Thomas Massie for the role of Secretary of Agriculture to support our libertarian principles and values. His consistent advocacy for sustainable farming practices, reduction of government overreach, and personal experience as a farmer make him an exemplary choice for “The Garden State.” Representative Massie’s commitment to the agricultural community is evidenced by his efforts to empower small farmers through legislation aimed at reducing burdensome regulations, thereby fostering agricultural innovation and entrepreneurship.
His initiatives, like the Interstate Milk Freedom Act, highlight his recognition of the importance of states’ rights and the empowerment of local producers. Furthermore, his work on the PRIME Act showcases his dedication to supporting small-scale meat processing, which is vital for the economic health of rural communities. These legislative efforts align with our party's ethos of promoting liberty, self-sufficiency, transparency, and the support of freedom for American farmers.
